Care Package #5: Chloe C. Chotrani
loob ng sinapupunan (inside the womb)
The most sacred form of blood is one where women bleed monthly, signs of fertility, birth and life. A process of womb clearing and cleansing. It is the only form of blood from the body that is released without violence. There was once a practice when women would offer their blood back to the land. Blood contains macronutrients: nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Plants demand these, especially nitrogen which offers them luster. While Pat's work was a response to the burn out due to societal demands reflected upon capitalistic labour time. I was inspired to offer a more elusive sense of time, the monthly rhythmic cycles of blood, it's ritualised element of offering my blood back to the land, as a way of bonding and remembering through both fertility of body and fertility of soil.
