Care Package #4: Pat Toh

24/7 is an act of capturing the breath hourly over 24 hours to reflect on the non-stop world of contemporary work. The title is inspired by 24/7: Late Capitalism and the Ends of Sleep by Johnathan Crary; and is part of Pat’s ongoing exploration of the body in relation to productivity and exhaustion. By performing the hourly task of capturing the in and out breath, time for sleep was disrupted and work time penetrated the entire day. In the ever-expanding 24/7 rhythm of life where personal needs are taken over by professional work can our breathing body be continuously efficient?

Pat Toh is a performance maker whose practice unfolds at the intersection of theatre, sports and the live arts. Her work Pretty Things was nominated for “Production of the Year”, “Best Director” and “Best Ensemble” in Singapore Life Theatre Awards (2012). She has presented at Raw Series at Esplanade Theatre Studio, M1 Fringe Festival and State of Motion. She was Substation artist-in-residence and currently an associate member at Dance Nucleus, a space for independent dance makers.
