Post-Residency Interview: Writing Spaces with Aaron Tan

Back in January 2020 we hosted Aaron Tan, a London-based artist whose residency with Grey Projects expanded on his ongoing practice-led PhD research on The LYC Museum & Art Gallery (1972-1983), a self-instituting museum in rural Cumbria by the artist Li Yuan-Chia.

Transforming not just our studio but the rooftop above us, Aaron incorporated these spaces into his migratory artwork based on LYC’s model, inhabiting and animating these spaces with materials and found objects that have become part of a “personal economy”. In this video Aaron tells us more about “writing spaces”, his research, his open studio, and honesty in creating open works.
